For most of us who use Windows for our day to day computing, Microsoft Office is certainly the most easy to use productivity suite. Also, the three most popluar productivity applications which come as part of the Microsoft Office Suite are MS Word, MS Excel and MS Power Point. However, the only catch is, these applications don’t come free; which leads us to use either open source software like OpenOffice.
Though, OpenOffice has been around since quite sometime now, the only reason why many still prefer to use Microsoft Office can be related to the way humans are often tuned to behave. As known, we can do a lots with Microsoft Office like Creating Basic Chart using MS Excel, Calculating our Equated Monthly Installments, playing games on MS Excel being some of them we have already discussed in past. The issue with softwares like OpenOffice is that the move from MS Office to OpenOffice is not so easy. Changes in the menu, functions, process steps etc are not exactly as in MS Office and this leads to de-motivating factor for lots of those who do wish to make a move from MS Office to other Office solutions like OpenOffice. Therefore the lack of intuitiveness of MS Office is certainly an issue. However, this issue now gets resolved with KingSoft Office 2007.
Kingsoft Office contains Writer, Presentation and Spreadsheets and is ready out-of-the-box, allowing you to start creating rich documents straight away. The three applications in KingSoft Office 2007 allows you to create .DOC, .PPT and .XLS files with ease. The overall interface of KingSoft Office 2007 is also exactly a replica of MS Office 2003. This leads to one of the major benefits for the users ; ZERO LEARNING PHASE for getting used to KingSoft Office 2007. To be short and precise, KingSoft Office 2007 is exactly a replica of MS Office 2003 without MS Logo 🙂
With KingSoft Office 2007, you can efficiently create and edit word documents, spreadsheets and slideshow presentations. The office suite comes with lots of templates as well to get you started. Also another interesting feature is Save as PDF’s which is missing in MS Office 2003.
Elena from Softonic says
I must admit these three apps are almost identical to their Microsoft Office equivalents, so identical in fact I’m beginning to wonder if it’s just a copy. Whatever the Kingsoft developers used to create the suite, I’m happy to be able a complete suite without having to pay for it. Also, the fact that it’s so similar to other suites you may have been using up to know makes the learning curve practically non-existent.
At present KingSoft Office 2007 is available only as a 100 day trial version. However, the company is coming out soon with the entirely free version shortly this month. The website says
At present the KSO09 license downloadable from the website will expire after 100 days. In order to allow you to maintain a totally free version we will shortly be releasing a newer version of our KSO07 as a personal edition with a license created for home use. Why not try KSO09 100 day trial before you decide whether to go KSO07 free or KSO09 available to buy as a single user or site license, allowing you to purchase once and install on as many computers you have at your location.
In the past, i have also used OpenOffice but after using KingSoft Office, i got a feeling that this is no different from MS Excel. A feeling which was certainly missing in OpenOffice and Google Docs.
I feel on the downside, KingSoft Office still has some more way to go till they also release clones of MS Outlook, MS access and MS Publisher in their further releases. For now, it certainly is a great suite to use for two lethal combinations; Zero License fees and the comfort of MS Office.
I dare say ; Competitors Watch out, the King is in 🙂
